July 7th

I met Amber in Graduate School at USC and I knew right away we would be amazing friends. We had a ton in common, I loved her husband and son, Jude and we both are obsessed with unicorns. By the way, they named their child Jude after the song “Hey Jude” by The Beatles. They are pretty much the coolest parents ever.

Me & Amber at Grad Night! She is such a champ! She got pregnant during our last year of Grad School and was able to maintain a perfect GPA and won a huge scholarship! Not to mention the fact that she is THEE most beautiful pregnant woman in the world.

Amber decided to have a natural/water birth at home for her second child. She and her husband asked for me to be there for the birth. I seriously felt like I won the lottery when she asked me this. I absolutely LOVE childbirth, babies, love, life and everything in between. I am not one of those people that get squeemish at the sight of blood and bodily fluids. I think it is all amazing and wonderful. Amber was due to have the baby on 7-14-12 but she had the baby yesterday on 7-7-12. LOOK AT THAT DATE!!!

Omg I’m so in love.

I have never seen a live birth before and people have always said that it changes you. I am here to say that for me that is 100% accurate. I felt like I just gained so much clarity in my life. What REALLY REALLY MATTERS in this life is:

Life, Human Connections, Intimacy, Support, Family, Love, Companionship, Understanding and MORE Love.

Here are a few pictures from yesterday that I would like to share (I got Amber’s permission to do so XOXO):

The boys. Neri (Amber’s amazing husband), Jude, their 4 year old and baby Jasper)

My favorite child in the whole wide world. Mr. Jude aka The New Big Brother XOXO

So about the food thing: Yesterday I had water and a banana (= zero points) on the way to Amber’s house at 5am to witness this magical moment. Her best friend and I shared a breakfast burrito which I have no idea how many points were in but I am assuming around 8. Later in the day I got really upset over something (totally unrelated to Amber and family’s beautiful day XOXO) and was feeling really weird so I treated myself to a “LIKE IT = One scoop” of Coldstone’s Peanut Butter and Chocolate ice cream. Before I ate this lard cup I had only eaten approx. 8 points and I knew I had 23 points left. I have no idea how much that cup of ice cream was and I was kind of afraid to look so I am assuming I wasted all of my points on that unhealthy experience. WORTH IT. I went home and went to bed.

I realize that my diet yesterday wasn’t the poster child of healthy eating but hey, I lost one more pound and sometimes we just have to be a weirdo when it comes to our eating schedule when we see babies being born and feel like your life changes forever.

One last thought….As I was in my car eating my ice cream zoning out and thinking about things I looked up at the sky and saw this. Thank You Universe. I needed that.

About FunnyGirlweightloss

Hey You! Welcome to my blog, I am happy you stopped by and I hope my struggles make you laugh a little bit....wait, what?....Anywho, this is my weight loss blog where I will be 100% honest and real about my struggles in losing some weight and more importantly, keeping it off. Most people that know me say I am funny (hence, the title of this blog) so I guess the twist is the fact that I am going to be completely candid about how much losing weight can be really tough/hard/awful/daunting/boring, yet eventually amazing and totally worthwhile. Hopefully through my vulnerability and candidness, I help inspire others to lose some weight and stay motivated. https://funnygirlweightloss.wordpress.com/

wow, I am super envious that you got to be present for your friend’s water birth…i have been obsessed with those since I first saw one on “A Baby Story” many, many years ago…before i was even in a baby making mindset! Anyway, I’m so happy for you, and that skywriting…seriously. Awesome 🙂 Love you Deanna!

    • Thank you Jennifer! It really was life changing. I became super interested in natural births when I taught classes to pregnant and parenting teens a few years ago. Then I watched a few documentaires and the movie “The Business of Being Born” and now I am 100% for natural/home births, so long that there are no complications or risk to the baby or mommy before labor. If you CAN have a baby at home then I say do it. I love you and I am happy you are enjoying reading my silly blog XOXO

I have to say I think its fantastic that she had a natural home birth. I was lucky that there were no complications and labor was fairly quick with Sophie. After the experience that I had, I am really going to consider natural child birth with our next baby if I am not such a coward. Also, I would have torn up that chocolate peanut butter shit too. Annnnnnnd that’s awesome that you saw the ‘love love’ skywriting. Miss your face.
