August 8th (Part II)

This post has nothing to do with Weight Watchers or weight loss but I still wanted to blog about it.

My mom died in November 2009 from breast cancer. It’s not really something I open up about in this blog but I am bringing it up now because it has some relevance to the following picture/information.

For the past few years I have been going through my mom’s stuff that she left behind and in the process I have found many wonderful pictures and other things that capture really great memories. One of them was this picture of my Great Grandma (GG) at her college graduation. GG decided to go back to college in her 70’s and graduated! There was a newspaper article about her during that time also. Pretty cool right? So I gave this picture to my mom’s cousin who was VERY VERY close to GG. GG was his Grandma and they had a really close bond. Here’s the picture

My mom’s cousin emailed me tonight with this message:

“Thanks for giving me your mom’s copies of the articles about grannie’s graduation.  they’re already paying dividends:  i put them on my dining table when i got home on sunday and today my maid came to my house — and she apparently read them.  the note that she left for me is attached and speaks for itself.  she also just texted me and told me that she cried while reading the articles.  i’m going to send her my favorite pic of grannie, which i took at her graduation (attached), along with the articles.”

Here is the letter his maid left him after reading the articles and seeing this picture:

I’m not going to lie, I teared up a little when I read the letter from his maid. I think this is what life is made of. Human connection, memories, inspiration, life, bettering yourself…..the list goes on and on. This just made me feel really good inside and I wanted to share it with all of you.

About FunnyGirlweightloss

Hey You! Welcome to my blog, I am happy you stopped by and I hope my struggles make you laugh a little bit....wait, what?....Anywho, this is my weight loss blog where I will be 100% honest and real about my struggles in losing some weight and more importantly, keeping it off. Most people that know me say I am funny (hence, the title of this blog) so I guess the twist is the fact that I am going to be completely candid about how much losing weight can be really tough/hard/awful/daunting/boring, yet eventually amazing and totally worthwhile. Hopefully through my vulnerability and candidness, I help inspire others to lose some weight and stay motivated.
